Frequently

Asked

Questions

How does the show work?

Twelfth Night Live is performed live on Zoom. All the actors and audience members are connected simultaneously to the Zoom platform. The actors perform from their own homes, but with the help of some theatre magic we aim to create an experience that is a close as possible to attending a show in person.

How do I attend the show?

You will be sent a unique Zoom link when you book.

I’ve never used Zoom before. How will I know what to do?

Full joining instructions will be sent to you when you book. Zoom is a very straightforward application to use. No special technical knowledge or skills are required.

Do I have to download anything?

For the best viewing experience, we recommend you download the Zoom app onto your device before the show starts.

Can I watch on my mobile phone?

For the best viewing experience we recommend a laptop or desktop computer. We do not recommend watching on a mobile phone.

Do I have to use any controls during the performance?

For the best viewing experience, we will show you how to use a few simple controls which enable you to change your view, as well as switching your camera and microphone on and off. Instructions will be sent to you a few days before the performance. You will also receive a briefing before you board the SS Illyria.

How is the show interactive?

Zoom enables two way communication between our actors and the audience. By using this functionality, we will bring the audience into the action at various key moments. You might be chatting to some of our crazy cast of characters, or being given specific tasks to undertake. We ask you to pack a few specific items to bring with you on the cruise, all of which you will be able to find in your own home.

I’m a bit shy. what if i don’t want to get involved?

Twelfth Night Live is designed to be a fun experience, and we won’t of course force anyone to participate in the interactive elements if they don’t want to! Once the show begins, you can simply keep your camera and microphone turned off. However, we hope that most of our audience members will want to get involved.

Do I need to dress up?

We want this to be an immersive experience, so we’re definitely encouraging audience members to dress up. We will also be sending you recipes for suitable drinks to mix! But this is not compulsory and it’s entirely up to you as to whether you’d like to get involved in this way.

What happens if I have technical problems in the performance?

This is a live event, and we all know that technology can go wrong. Should you have any problems during the performance, we will give you complimentary tickets for a future performance. If that is not possible, we will send you a recording of the show to watch.

I can’t make the show times. Can I watch a recording?

We believe strongly that online theatre needs to be live, so we won’t be making a recording of the show available for general release. However, we hope to arrange further performances of Twelfth Night Live in the future.
